Operates self-propelled smooth drum steel roller to compact and solidify soil and cement stabilized material. Performs various maintenance tasks including ditch work, slope mowing, limb trimming, patching, involving manual labor in Greenwood county during the winter months or when reclamation activities have ceased due to equipment breakdowns, weather. Operates standard and tandem dump truck for hauling materials including asphalt, stone and soil and to pull trailers to haul equipment to and from job sites. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as outlined in equipment and SCDOT serving intervals. Conducts and documents pre-operation or pre-trip equipment inspection. Trains to operate motorized street sweeper broom in cleanup operations. Flags traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor. Operates standard and tandem dump truck with snow plow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Trains in the operation of other rollers, such as sheeps foot and pneumatic, as well as other reclamation crew equipment.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. (NOTE): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of placement in the position. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License are available.
